I wanted to create rainy weather behind this orchid with abstract background as usual in this black and white orchid composition and used more detail on the orchid. The dreary, dark and rainy atmosphere and my home grow orchid plant scene reflected to canvas in this way.

In traditional Chinese medicine, the orchid was used to help cure coughs and lung illnesses. In ancient Greece, orchids were associated with virility and male fertility, the belief being that if women ate orchid flowers, they would bear a son to continue the family tradition. It is the one of the most beautiful and elegant plant I have ever seen in my life.
